Gray Isn’t Gloomy Anymore!

Posted by: Denise In: DIY|Just for Fun|Theme Weddings

I have to admit I’ve never considered the color gray a good choice for a wedding. To me, it just seemed too drab and dull for an occasion that’s all about celebrating happiness!

However, after seeing these photos I’ve changed my tune. Gray can be an excellent color choice for a wedding – IF you do it right. Take your cue from these featured gray wedding accessories and you just might be inspired to have your own gray wedding!

Add a dash of personality to your winter/gray wedding with this gorgeous bridal bouquet. A combination of white roses, peonies, and lilies look absolutely stunning, while silver and gray pinecones and other decorative accents fit the theme. Honestly, how could you not fall in love with this bouquet?

I thought this was such a cute idea, and it can easily be adapted to any theme wedding – not just gray! For this example, however, gray river rocks in various shades were used in place of paper placecards. Guests names were written on the rocks in metallic gold ink for a unique placecard that fits with all sorts of wedding themes. Super cute, right?

Your guests will love diving into this three tier wedding cake covered in cream cheese frosting and beautifully resting on a large silver platter. Large silver-gray polka dots decorate the cake and bright purple orchids add an unexpected touch of color to an otherwise muted confection. Lovely!

Gray isn’t such a gloomy color anymore, especially if you add unexpected twists of color or other design elements to really make the hue pop. I don’t know about you, but these ideas have definitely made me rethink the color gray!

One of my cousins got married last year and I was a bridesmaid in her wedding. About 2 weeks before the wedding the bride calls me up to ask me if I would mind not wearing my engagement ring at her wedding since it would distract people from looking at her ring, and she really didn’t want anyone in the bridal party sporting jewelry bigger than hers. Can anyone beat that bridezilla request?? — Alexis
