4 Ideas to Announce your Elopement

Posted by: Denise In: Eloping

If you and your partner decided to elope, it can be tricky to figure out how to tell your friends and family the news. Luckily, I have 4 ideas you can use to announce your elopement and make your loved ones feel included even if they weren’t there to witness the vows!

1. Elopement Party

After you’ve done the deed, throw a post-elopement party and invite your closest friends and relatives to attend. Think of it as a reception without all the hassle! You can invite who you want, send announcements about your elopement to those who aren’t invited, and have a worry-free fete to celebrate your union. Display photos of your elopement at the party so guests can almost feel like they were actually there with you.

2. Create a Website

If parties aren’t your thing but you still want a creative way to announce your marriage, consider creating an elopement websites. There are plenty of online resources you can use to create a free website that details the specifics of your marriage, and you have pretty much free rein to customize it however you like. Add photos of the ceremony, music and anything else you’d like to make it personal, and e-mail your friends and relatives the link so they can share the news!

3. Send Announcements

If you just want to let everyone know of your elopement without worrying about a party or other gathering, send personal annoucements to close friends and family letting them know you’ve tied the knot. There are many websites that can help you create elopement announcements, or you can personalize the news by making them yourself. Include a photograph of you and your partner on the big day to further personalize the announcements.

4. Get “Married” Again

While this idea is a bit more high-maintenance than others, it can help soothe any hurt feelings your family or friends might have about being excluded from your big day. Hold a “mock” wedding and re-enact your wedding vows and such. You can wear your dress, he can wear his tux, and those close to you can feel like they are witnessing your special day without you actually having to spend much money at all.

With these ideas, you can announce your elopement to family and friends in a personal, creative way that they will surely appreciate.

One of my cousins got married last year and I was a bridesmaid in her wedding. About 2 weeks before the wedding the bride calls me up to ask me if I would mind not wearing my engagement ring at her wedding since it would distract people from looking at her ring, and she really didn’t want anyone in the bridal party sporting jewelry bigger than hers. Can anyone beat that bridezilla request?? — Alexis
