The Case for a Flower-Free Table

Posted by: Kristy In: Budget Advice|DIY|Flowers

Flowers are gorgeous; I think we can all agree on that. The other thing they are, however, is expensive. Like all things in your wedding, what goes on the table should be reflective of you and your mate, and that doesn’t have to mean breaking the bank.

As an alternative idea, I give you the flower-free, fall-themed tables I used at my wedding last October. Instead of traditional centerpieces, we brainstormed our favorite things about fall and had a variety of different arrangements at each table. There were…

and “Oktoberfest” Beer Steins and Pretzels:

Some of the other tables featured vintage Fall TV Guides, (found for cheap on eBay) secondhand Fisher Price TV’s (also found on eBay) sporting our pictures in the screens, and miniature apple-bobbing stations. The result was fun, imaginative, colorful, and a direct reflection on myself and my husband.

So put on your thinking caps! Take into account the month you’re getting married, where the wedding is, or what your interests are. Anything goes, as long as it makes you two happy on your big day. Have fun!

Best Bridezilla Stories

One of my cousins got married last year and I was a bridesmaid in her wedding. About 2 weeks before the wedding the bride calls me up to ask me if I would mind not wearing my engagement ring at her wedding since it would distract people from looking at her ring, and she really didn’t want anyone in the bridal party sporting jewelry bigger than hers. Can anyone beat that bridezilla request?? — Alexis
