Destination Wedding Tips You Can’t Live Without

Posted by: Denise In: Destination Weddings

Destination weddings are still a popular choice for couples who are looking to celebrate their special day in a big way, but there are a few things you should know before you book the trip.

1. Think Outside the Beach

When most people hear “destination wedding,” they automatically conjure images of sandy white peaches and palm trees swaying in the breeze. If you’re not the beach type, however, there are plenty of locales that offer the allure of a destination wedding without the sand! Consider a cozy mountain retreat or lakefront resort as the scene for your special day instead!

2. Consider Family

While desination weddings are a great place to mingle with family you don’t get to see that often, keep in mind that not everyone will want or be able to attend. To avoid hurt feelings, consider hosting a post-wedding celebration once you return home so all the relatives that missed out on the actual wedding can still feel as if they were part of the big day.

3. Know Your Budget

Destination weddings can be surprisingly affordable, and often can end up costing less than if you stayed stateside. However, it’s important to know how much you are able and willing to spend before you decide on a week-long wedding/honeymoon in the Carribean! With destination weddings, you can choose to spend as much or as little as you want and still have a wonderful time; just make sure you figure out financial matters well ahead of time.

When planning a destination wedding, keep these tips in mind to make sure you will look back on your big day with fond memories!

Best Bridezilla Stories

One of my cousins got married last year and I was a bridesmaid in her wedding. About 2 weeks before the wedding the bride calls me up to ask me if I would mind not wearing my engagement ring at her wedding since it would distract people from looking at her ring, and she really didn’t want anyone in the bridal party sporting jewelry bigger than hers. Can anyone beat that bridezilla request?? — Alexis
